THE DEFINITIVE (2 CD SET)
There has been too little of the New Christy Minstrels available, so we're bringing you this 45-track collection of their best known songs. Formed and led by Randy Sparks, the act varied in size with as many as 10 performers performing a blend of pop and folk and charting regularly. This collection draws from all 10 of their Columbia albums and their various line-ups (including Barry McGuire and Gene Clark). There are also some rare singles and first time stereo releases. This collection was put together from our long time Rediscover Music friend and New Christy Mintrels scholar Tom Pickles. Tom also put together, and there is included in the booklet, a detailed chart of the sources (original appearances) of the songs on the album as well as line-ups of each of the configurations appearing on the album. Tom has also prepared an 8 (CD booklet size) page history of the New Christy Minstrels including reminiscences by Randy Sparks.
