Detailed Description
ANTHOLOGY THE WARNER/ REPRISE YEARS 2-CD Set
Emmylou Harris' three-decade journey as an interpreter and distinctive stylist has resulted in some of the most satisfying sounds in contemporary music with her mastery of the depth and breadth of the American roots songbook. Born in Alabama and raised in Virginia, she got into roots music in her mid-teens and was "discovered" by members of The Flying Burrito Brothers who saw her perform in a D.C. club. Soon-to-be-ex-Burrito Gram Parsons hired her to sing on his first solo album, GP, in 1972, and his follow up GRIEVOUS ANGEL in 1973. Since then Emmylou has evolved from duet partner to keeper of the rodeo to bluegrass champion to alternate country godmother.
THE EMMYLOU HARRIS ANTHOLOGY celebrates a crucial 15-year period (1975 - 1990): Emmylou's beginnings as a solo artist, the formation of the aptly named Hot Band, and the 16 albums she created with this ever-changing, consistently superb crew of musicians.
