This splendid DVD showcases Oscar Peterson in a unique performance with his 1988 trio, featuring bassist Dave Young and drummer Martin Drew. They all shine on this wonderfully filmed concert, which features a repertoire of standards and Peterson tunes. Both the pianist and bassist were Canadian and had played together since 1973, when Young participated on the Toronto recording for Peterson s album Canadiana Suite. This DVD presents the chance to hear a nearly unheard edition of the Oscar Peterson Trio. Peterson's last recordings with Dave Young consisted of duets recorded in January 1995. Martin Drew would continue working with Peterson into the 1990s. Their last collaborations listed in discographies were made live in Vienna, Austria, in November 2003.
