Detailed Description
Travis Edmonson Live in San Francisco 1967 CDR
Featuring Frank Sanchez on drums and with special guest Bob Shane.
Several years ago, Travis Edmonson was sent a tape of a concert he performed in San Francisco in 1967. Formerly of The Gateway Singers and later Bud & Travis, Travis had resumed his solo career. Accompanying him at many of his gigs was drummer Frank Sanchez, at that time a highly sought-after musician in the Bay Area.
At that time The Kingston Trio had just broken up and Bob Shane, one of the founders and the lead singer of the Trio, was exploring alternatives for the future, one of which was as a duet with Travis known as Shane & Travis. Theyd done some rehearsing together, and Bob joined Travis for a couple of songs at some of his shows, one of which was this one. Unfortunately, their partnership was short-lived, and the two songs performed together at this show are the only known recordings by this duet.
Thus we have this recording which is outstanding for three reasons 1.) It is of Travis at the top of his game, 2.) It is the only known recording of Shane & Travis and 3.) It showcases Frank Sanchez, who was later to be an accompanist for the first New Kingston Trio. This CD was produced by Travis, his partner, Rose Marie Heidrick, and some close friends, and we are pleased that they have made it available to us to offer you.
