Detailed Description
THE KINGSTON TRIO FLASHBACK 1963 2-CDs
With several CDs of previously unreleased Kingston Trio concerts in the last couple of years, we thought we'd seen and heard all that there was to be. Happily, we were wrong as there is now this 2-CD set of a concert recorded October 3, 1963. None of us knew it at the time, but this was just before the euphoria of President Kennedy's "Camelot" was about to end, the British Cabinet was being rocked by sexual scandals, and Bob Dylan was just a young and upcoming singer-songwriter.
In retrospect, it was a happy time. The Kingston Trio were at the top of their game. Following their smash hit of "Where Have All The Flowers Gone," they had back-to-back chart-toppers of "Greenback Dollar" and "Rev. Mr. Black," and were packing them in at college shows. Consequently, when the Trio appeared at the University of Kentucky, both they and the audience were primed to have a good time. And they sure did! Laughing and joking with each other and with the audience, they came through as having the time of their lives. There are other treats too! This recording contains live performances of several Trio songs previously available only as studio recordings, and the topical humor of the day is priceless. If you're old enough to remember those days, you're sure to love this show.
