A filmed performance of James Earl Jones' one-man-show about singer/actor Paul Robeson, whose controversial political views ended his career prematurely. The multi-talented Robeson was an accomplished athlete and scholar before his superlative career in show business even began. But Robeson often spoke out against racism, and sided with the Soviet Union during the Cold War. As a result, Robeson's career took a serious downturn, and he was virtually blacklisted from the entertainment industry. A few years before his death, however, Robeson's career was briefly resurrected. The actor died in 1976.
