This is the heartwarming, faithful retelling of Charles Dickens' classic novel, A Christmas Carol, which tells the story of a miserable miser whose favorite response to Christmas cheer is a disdainful, "Bah-humbug." Scrooge (Seymour Hicks) is an apathetic, heartless tycoon who has only the piles of money he's ruthlessly attained to keep him company. But this Christmas Eve everything is about to change for the miserly, old Scrooge. The ghosts of Christmas' past, present, and future each take a turn visiting him in the night, and by the dawn of Christmas Day, Scrooge rediscovers the joy and spirit of the festive holiday.
BEYOND TOMORROW
George Melton (Harry Carey), Allan Chadwick (C. Aubrey Smith), and Michael O'Brien (Charles Winninger) are three very rich, self-involved businessmen. Having only each other to spend Christmas Eve with, Melton, Chadwick, and O'Brien invite two perfect strangers to dinner: James Houston (Richard Carlson) and Jean Lawrence (Jean Parker). Satisfied that they've played successful matchmakers, the trio of men board a plane headed for an important meeting. Unlucky for them, the plane crashes and they arrive back at their mansion as ghosts, only to discover that James is making the same life mistakes they had by allowing his drive to succeed overshadow the need for a fulfilling relationship. Unable to face judgment at the Pearly Gates, Melton, Chadwick, and O'Brien set out to make things right on earth by uniting the misguided young man and lovely Jean Parker once and for all, thus earning themselves a ticket to heaven.
