The great irony surrounding the 1960s and 1970s television phenomenon Beat Club is that, although the program offered exclusive live stage performances by acts that crested the top of the charts in the States, most Americans (who would have flipped their lids over the music delivered on the program) never saw it; produced by Radio Bremen, it aired only in Deutschland. Nevertheless, unlike its western television equivalents (Hullaballoo, Shindig, American Bandstand, Solid Gold) Beat Club imposed no restraints on the length of each song.
