The Weavers were one of the most successful of the early commercial folk groups and an inspiration for a generation of folk artists. Formed by Pete Seeger, Lee Hays, Fred Hellerman and Ronnie Gilbert in 1948, The Weavers hit big with "Goodnight Irene," which topped the charts for 13 weeks and was one of the biggest hits of the first half of the century. This set includes two unreleased songs recorded at the Newport Folk Festival in 1960.
