Detailed Description
SPIRIT & STONE
Tamarack returns to the recording world with their first CD in two years. Spirit & Stone features the new line-up of Alex Sinclair (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Molly Kurvink (bass, vocals), and Shelley Coopersmith (violin, mandolin, mandola, vocals) and includes twelve new songs. Half of them were written by Alex, one is an instrumental by Shelley, one is by Molly's husband, and the rest are by a scattering of some of Canada's finest songwriters who haven't yet made it into the band.
Spirit & Stone deals with people and their relationship to the land. This is a common enough theme in Canadian art, visual, written, and aural. Canada is a big country with only a few people; the land looms large in reality as well as in our imagination. For Tamarack, a band that has toured countless times throughout Canada (as well as the US and Britain), the land and its people have always inspired their best work.
