Detailed Description
SONGCATCHER II CD Special Order
While SONGCATCHER featured contemporary artists performing modern versions of early American folk ballads, SONGCATCHER II reaches back even further to the beginnings of American roots music and features a handful of songs performed in the film along with a slew of other old ballads, all performed by "real" mountain musicians. Most of these performances are over 40 years old and are authentic recordings - a wonderful audio history of songs that have been passed down from generation to generation.
"This collection offers a rare opportunity to glimpse a period in our history when people really did sing as easily as they talked...when songs told life's stories and were sung in a unique style and voice. These songs are our history, our struggles and our victories." From the Liner Notes by Sheila Kay Adams
